Second Alarmers Associaton of Philadelphia
The Second Alarmers have served the Fire
and Police membership, as well as hundreds of victims over the past eight
decades. They have been there at each
and every multiple-alarm fire in Philadelphia
since the service began in 1921.
Their
objective then, as now, was to respond to all fires of two or more alarms (and
extended-service 1-alarm fires) and to give aid at other disasters and Police
and Fire services.
Members are called upon to not only
provide a class “A” rest and rehab canteen, but also to provide lights, assist
at first aid stations with manpower and equipment, and to be available when
needed to answer a call – 24 hours, 365 days each year!
The organization is totally
self-supporting through donations solicited mainly from the membership of the
Philadelphia Fire & Police Departments.
In addition, private individuals can contribute to the Second Alarmers
through the United Way Donor Option Plan (option #2125) and from the private
sector we encourage both corporate and concerned citizens to help continue this
fine tradition of service to our First responders by donating funds. As with all charitable organizations, making
ends meet is a major challenge. Are you
willing to help? The Second Alarmers is
an IRS Section “501 3 C” designated charitable organization.
The Police vs. Fire Regional Rowboat Face Off is honored to be supported by the Second Alarmers!
